We are going for

a bike ride!

While were vacationing on 30a, everyone was riding bikes!  Not the ordinary mountain bike and not the "bananna seat" bicycle, but a "Granny style" sord of bicycle.  You know the one with the big seats, & huge handle bars that kinda come up?! Well, I have one now along with the baby seat on the back for Alice Taylor to ride in! We thought since Wiley has it mastered now we needed to all ride!  Robin has my old Diamond Back from "back in the day" he rides but the seat is a tad bit uncomfortable for him and we usually end up swapping "sickles" along the way. We try to get in a ride most everyday that there is not something conflicting with our schedules, like Robin's work.

We are all set and ready to hit the road!

yumminess....is that a word??!!!

Sweet Southern Summer Time Tomato Pie

YUMMO!! This is what I had for dinner tonight!  It was so great that I had to have my Mom over for a taste test.  She agreed with me and said it was the best Tomato Pie she/we had ever eaten! I had fresh tomatoes that my babysitter shared with us and fresh basil from my Mom's herb garden. I felt like a little "gourmet" chef while making this!  I found the recipe from another blogger and wanted to share the yumminess (is that even a word??!!!) with you.

Photo and Recipe by Ezra Pound Cake
Makes 6 servings
  • 1 (9-INCH) PREBAKED DEEP-DISH PIE SHELL
  • 3 TO 4 TOMATOES, PEELED, CORED, AND CUT INTO 1/4-INCH SLICES
  • 1/4 CUP CHOPPED FRESH BASIL
  • 1/2 TO 3/4 CUP THINLY SLICED VIDALIA ONION
  • KERNELS FROM 1 EAR OF CORN
  • 1/2 CUP GRATED MOZZARELLA
  • 1/2 CUP GRATED CHEDDAR
  • 1/2 CUP MAYONNAISE
  • SALT AND PEPPER
  • PINCH OF OREGANO
  1. Prebake your pie shell.
  2. To Peel Your Tomatoes: Bring a pot of water to a boil over high heat. Have a bowl of ice water ready. Using a knife, gently score a small “X” at the base of each tomato, cutting just through the peel. With a slotted spoon or tongs, add the tomatoes to the pot of boiling water for 1 minute. Then transfer them to the ice water for a few seconds. Remove them from the water, and peel the loosened skin.
  3. Core the tomatoes, and slice them horizontally into 1/4-inch slices. Place them in a colander, and lightly sprinkle them with salt. Let them drain in the colander for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. If you haven’t done this already, prepare your basil, Vidalia onion and corn. Set aside.
  5. When your pie shell comes out of the oven, set the oven temperature to 350 degrees F.
  6. Place your drained tomato slices on a few paper towels or a large tea towel. Set aside.
  7. In a medium bowl, combine the mozzarella and the cheddar. Stir in the mayonnaise. Set aside.
  8. Arrange the tomato slices in the crust. Season them with salt, pepper and a pinch of oregano.
  9. Layer half of the basil on top of the tomatoes, followed by the onion, corn and the remaining basil. Season with a little more salt and pepper.
  10. Place the cheese and mayo mixture on top of the corn in large spoonfuls. Using a spatula or the back of your spoon, spread the mixture to cover the top of the pie, all the way to the inside rim of the pie shell. Bake for 30 minutes or until lightly browned.
So good and best to eat at room temperature (in my book)
Happy Weekend!

a little bit of this...

and a WHOLE lot of reading, bike riding, and Alice playing in her favorite place...Wiley's room!  Alice loves to read and so does Wiley, they must get that from their Daddy!!!!  Alice's favorites are anything by Bill Martin Jr/Eric Carle--She loves them all, but her FAV is Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?  Great book because Wild Man can read them to her!! Whoa WAIT--I forgot our baby girl is walking--She started the week before we headed South for the Shore!!!  YAY Sis

Walking and Reading! Skills :)

Wiley has finally mastered his "tight" turning skills on the bike.  He has been riding without training wheels since about May but turning in tight spaces, not so much--But thanks to "Patient Dad" he mastered it! Hooty Hoo Wild Man!!!

Alice likes to be under the island! She gets under there and will sit for a bit and then yell scream at the top of her lungs for help! Here she is :)

and last but not least~ When it is very quiet on our end of the house we know one thing is for sure, they are playing in the back! Here is Alice sitting in Wiley's chair watching him play the wii, and then another playing with his "knight gear"!! We are so thankful he is so sweet to her and doesn't mind one bit her messing with his things~ ~ xxoo's kiddos!

---On last thing for tonight!  A few things they have been saying/doing:

Wiley: MOM "Here we Go" Fresh Beat Band! Boo Boo and I love this song and dance everytime it comes on!
"I could eat 76 flies in the blink of an eye"  What did you say Wiley??--he repeated! Have no idea where that came from!! Thought it was too cute!!!
"Mom--Sis looks like a oppossum laying in the road after being hit " Alice Taylor was laying out in the road crying b/c Wiley had rode off on his bike without her!

Alice Taylor:  "cheese" for the camera! "yum yum" she has a great DaddddyDadddyDadddy chant she gets to yelling..."Y Y" for Wiley. Wiley's buddy Sam has called him YY since they were babies so I thought it was cute when WDK taught Alice that!! "book" and "deer"--Deer was her 1st word, imagine that! until next time--agnus

30a

Beaching it with the Parentals and the Harbors!

My parents were so gracious to rent a house on 30a for 7 days for us all to enjoy! They took the 2 "grand"boys down on Saturday and we joined them on Tuesday! The boys did everything from surfing to going out on a Pirate Ship (Daddy videoed the whole Pirate Ship Cruise and we all got to see how much fun the boys had--Wiley getting his "sea legs" was hysterical) to dining with the alligators (yikes) FUN times were had for sure and great memories were made at Camp Nana Janet 2011!

....I will not do a picture overload, but you know good and well that I had my camera very close by the entire time!  My friend Kelli came down and took pictures of our family and I can hardly wait to see how they all turned out!

just a few pictures of C.N.J. 2011~

....and a SEA TURTLE nest! How cool is that?!!!!

...a game of morning frisbee and more surfing!

My Daddy with his two girls

Are those kiddos cute or what?!!!!??!!!  Having a little lunch while Alice Taylor was aboard the Shut Eye Train! A big THANK you to Paul Harbor aka "drink maker" :)

And a visit from none other than the ICE CREAM TRUCK! The coolest paint job on a ice cream truck I have ever seen!!!  Alice enjoying her Daddy's screwball!

Our neighbors were so kind to get this family photo of all of us....(As if we didn't have enough taken already)!  Fireworks exploded of course, but in ALL we all had a great time!!!!

4th of JULY WEEKEND...

fun!

What a fun and eventful weekend we had here! Much better than the last one where the whole family, except Robin was SICK!  That was the 1st time that Wildman had been sick since I was pregnant with Alice Taylor and boy was he sick~That fever stuff kicked him hard!

Two of our greatest friends invited us to come to her parents house for a BIG cookout, lots of laughs and swimming!  So off to Maplesville, AL. we go~ It was the 1st time that we met Tara Brooke's family and we couldn't have felt more at home! They treated us like family and did I mention that her Uncle MAL can GRILL?? Robin and I ate until we made ourselves sick!!  We had to best time and Wiley of course doesn't meet a stranger and became best buds with BRETT!  He is 18 and was so sweet to Wiley, they swam and taught each other tricks....and of course Wiley's best trick is the PABLO--I think he got this name from the cutest cartoon, The backyardigans!!
This is the PABLO
my favorite PIC--Thanks for getting this one Tara!

Wiley had several different ways he went down this slide--Upside down/backwards was one...YIKES!!!

Hunter, Wildman, and Brett

On Sunday Wiley went to the river (aka muddy ditch) with Mary Katherine...these two play so well together and that little girl is NOT afraid of anything! Robin and I joined them later that afternoon!  We had such a great time and so did the kiddos!  Wiley and MK wanted to do nothing but TUBE--There little hand motions cracked us up...They would move their hand like a snake because the wanted Todd to go side to side and sling them all over the Alabama River.  Made this Momma a nervous wreck-to see my five year old in a tube behind a boat in a muddy ditch FULL of gators--eeek!  Todd and Angie's oldest little girl Morgan was at the beach, we missed her! Angie and I have been friends for a coon's age and I remember like yesterday being there when Morgan was born May 3, 2000.  I say this date because exactly 10 years later I had Alice Taylor on the exact same day--how cool is that?!?!?!!  Here are few pictures from our 1st River Trip of the Summer!
I am so glad I packed this boy a PBJ!! He was starving like Marvin and scarfed if down!!

Ummm YEP, that is Mary Katherine standing up with her hands in the air and Wiley holding on for dear LIFE!

I think Selma is a neat place, especially downtown! I love all the old buildings and slowly but surely they are getting fixed up!  I love this picture of the Edmund Pettus Bridge and the picture of the old buildings that have kudzo growing all over them!!

We stopped the boat just on the other side of the bridge to take a dip and the difference in the water temperature from there and "the sandbar" WHOA--It felt great/cool by the bridge!! I know it is so gross and gators and snakes everywhere, but we were hot and we had to check on the munckins!

On Monday the 4th of July, Robin got up and went straight outside to "detail" his truck! When I say detail, I mean you can eat off the hood of the truck it is so clean!  5 hours later, I am not kidding you, I snuck a picture of him finishing it off!  He came in, showered and him and Wiley went to get fireworks--While gone it started flooding, the bottom of the sky fell out and all I could think was I hope they took my car intstead of that truck---WRONG, they were in the truck! He got home and said.."Well it has road film on it now" I really did feel sorry for him! He is a little no MAJOR o.c.d. over that truck..I am not allowed to even back it out of the driveway~I know crazy!! While he was busy detailing Wiley and I made a little, well sorta healthy snack! A friend made these and posted them and I knew we would love them and better yet I had everything to make them!!  They were so yummy and gone by that night!!  My parents came over for the annual Belden Blvd. firework show, along with Jason, Ivie, and Bella! Wiley didn't want to go to the "big show", he said his were way better and bigger!!  I hope you had a wonderful 4th of July weekend, because I know we sure did!!
It looks like a mirror, right?!!!

This is Drake---He will be 11 this month!  We got him the summer before we married!  I love this dog so much~He really is the sweetest dog I have ever had!! and.... Wiley doing what he loves--swinging!!

Wiley is so proud of his fireworks, he has hoarded a collection of used roman candles!

Alice is in bed by 7:00 but I wanted to keep her up to watch!  She loved them for the 1st 10 minutes and then she was ready for bed! Bathed her, bottle, and bed! She was out like a light!!!
This little fellow wasn't far behind her!

Just before Robin got called out to work that night, we finished off these!!  YUMMO!!! Thanks Kristen :)

As I end this post tonight, I am so thankful that we live in One Nation Under GOD!
